Professional Bio

Dr. Lu is a Principal Researcher at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB), where she leads a research group focused on psychiatric genetics, particularly major depressive disorder (MDD). Since 2023, she has directed the KI Psychiatric Genomics Institute. Dr. Lu is a recognized leader in large international collaborations, serving as co-chair of the Nordic Tryggve consortium (comprising over 30 investigators across five Nordic countries) and the MDD working group at the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (including 1,772 investigators from 66 countries). In addition to her research leadership, Dr. Lu chairs the MEB Women Researcher Network (2024–) and is an active member of the KI Women in Science and Education (WISE) network. Research Her research integrates large-scale genomic data with nationwide electronic healthcare records to investigate subtypes of depression, aiming to reduce the considerable heterogeneity within the disorder. The long-term goal of this work is to support targeted drug development and optimize treatment for MDD patient subgroups, advancing the field of precision psychiatry.
